West Virginia Modern Quilt Guild

Where mountain folk art meets progressive quilting

Welcome to the WV Modern Quilt Guild! Leslie & I recently met through a online fabric swap group and realized that we both live in Charleston. We were both individually planning on setting up a branch of the Modern Quilt Guild here in West Virginia so we just combined our love of quilting and are working together!

If you've quilted for any length of time then I'm sure you have noticed the lack of modern quilting cottons in the Charleston area. We hope that by coming together as a group that we can influence the buying trends of local quilt shops. There is always the option of buying fabric online, which is how I buy 99% of my fabric, but I am sure we would all rather support a local business.

Please be patient with us as we are just getting things set up, but feel free to spread the word and invite your friends to join our chapter. You'll notice an "Invite" button on the right side of the page, and when you click it you will be given the option to import your address book from your email account and send out invites to your friends.

Email us if you have any questions or suggestions. We are so excited about this and look forward to bringing together modern quilters in the beautiful state of West Virginia!

**Make sure to thank Leslie for all her hard work in setting up this fantastic website!!**

I totally agree - and when I look at your, and other people's blogs - I drool!! This is not good - people already think I'm crazy, without the drooling!!

While I'm sure that you you would prefer a Charleston shop to begin carrying modern designs, you might enjoy a visit to Quilts by Phyllis in Hurricane. She now carries Amy Butler and Kaffee Fassett as well as great collections of b/w, batik, brights & Modas. It's my favorite fabric shop in the tri-state.

In stitches,
Lynn

I have quilted a few little lap quilts when I was younger. I am just now getting back to sewing after a LONG time away from it. I am always glad to meet other crafters. Stephanie, thank you for starting this group!
